Lenovo DOit apps; Everything made simpler

The Lenovo Doit apps are a premium suite of apps that are shipped with every lenovo smart phone or tablet to date.

Lenovo has simplified important tasks efficiently and have massively sped up the process of doing it with a simple click of a button.

This Suite includes the following apps

1. SHAREit: shares files and folders between one smartphone and another or One smartphone and a PC at speeds faster than standard bluetooth

2. Reachit: connect all your cloud services, laptops, tablets and Pcs giving  you a single dashboard that lets you search for files across all of your cloud service and all of your devices at once.

3. WRITEit: enables you to use handwriting in any app on Lenovo touchscreen PCs.

Lets start off with

Lenovo SHAREit;

Lenovo Shareit has made transfering files from one PC to another (even if your PC does not have a bluetooth) quick and easy

How has lenovo Shareit made it so easy ?

Lenovo Shareit works in a way where whenever you want to send a file and since wifi is the fastest possible network device on your device at that moment Shareit creates a wifi hotspot when commanded to send a file. It creates a hotspot while the receiver also creates a wifi hotspot which then the sender device connects to the receiver device via wifi and send the file at the speed of light. This is known as wifi Direct . SHAREIt stands out by offering a more compelling and comprehensive Wi-Fi direct sharing service than anything in the market to date.

Lenovo Shareit is capable of sending a 4.8mb file at 1 second sending_file

Why I prefer ShareIt to traditional USB ?

well shareit sends files faster than traditional USB. No Unplugging and plugging of devices are required. Hackers can compromise your system through USB but in this case USB is not being plugged in so your safe and your file has been sent efficiently saving your time and the files have been sent without you having to empty your USB disk drive to free up space for that particular game or photo album

Pro’s ?

1. Faster than traditional bluetooth file transfer

2. Does not require any extra work

3. Saves time

4. Easy to use

Cons ?

None

Here are a few screen shots of the interface demonstrating lenovo ShareIt in process

2.Lenovo REACHIt;

Lenovo has brilliantly simplified the way we access out work, home and cloud pc’s and services allowing us  to manage all of your files, no matter where they are stored, inside one single app by simple linking them to the service. Lenovo has made searching for files over a wide number of your pcs a simple press of a button without you having to physically go to that pc, even while on the go; the reachit for android and IOS (coming soon) app helps you retrieve your files with ease

How does lenovo simplify work through the reachit app ?

First of all lenovo has made a simple user friendly dashboard with all your pc’s mobile devices, tablets and cloud services linked up. Then Reachit dashboard allows you to search for a file all over your devices and services through the search bar, again saving time. ReachIt has built in document editing services (ZOHO).

Pros ?

1. Saves time

2. On the go work place

3. Everything in one place achieved

Cons ?

1. If you want to access a file from your work PC and your work PC is powered off you can not access it or wake via lan

2. A lenovo ID is a requirement

3. No offline file caching (incase your in a flight with no internet access)

Lenovo Insider : why do I love being an Insider and why will I always support lenovo ?

So far in life I have many goals, many achievements and many milestones which I have reached to date,

One of them was being able to represent my favorite brand. Ive been a lenovo user for almost 8 years. Ive used multiple lenovo machines, and so far none of them have put me down, even the G series which is lenovo’s basic no extra features line of machines, even those seem to make me pause for a second and admire them.

Lenovo was founded in 1984. While the Lenovo brand came into existence only in 2004, the company has a much longer history. In 1984, Legend Holdings was formed with 200,000 RMB (US$25,000) in a guard house in China. The company was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988 and would grow to be the largest PC company in China. Legend Holdings changed its name to Lenovo in 2004 and, in 2005, acquired the former Personal Computer Division of IBM, the company that invented the PC industry in 1981.

Lenovo’s premium line of machines are the ThinkPads. You can throw anything and everything at a thinkpad and it will outlive you. ThinkPads are MilSpec, they go through a variety of tests such as Baked, battered, blistered and blown with sand, Lenovo put the lineup of eight ThinkPad laptops through the gauntlet to pass a significant number of specifications for military-grade computing. Lenovo makes sure that every ThinkPad passes Low Pressure – Tests operation at 15,000 feet
Humidity – Cycles 95 percent humidity through the environment
Vibration (operational and non-operational) – Jostles and jolts the laptops to make sure they can withstand shocks
High Temperature – Simulates high heat conditions by baking the laptop up to 140°F
Low Temperature – Tests operation at -4°F
Temperature Shock – Fluctuates between -4 and up to 140°F to test operation
Dust – Blows dust for an extended amount of time

before they put it in the market for consumer purchase.

ThinkPads are used on the international space station

Becoming a lenovo insider 5 years ago was one of the best days of my life, I was invited into the team by Kionna Coleman. I met a bunch of new people, who are honestly true to their word and are teaching and guiding me every step of the way. I can proudly say that Lenovo is one of the reasons to why I am where I am today. Lenovo is molding me in my line of IT. I want to be a programmer, and lenovo is playing a big role in getting me there. I learn new things every day, I meet new people every day, I get to experience new thing’s in the tech community every day, I see new problems and see solutions to them every day. I may not be a very active or an insider who voices his view unless told to, but I try my best to influence people to getting a lenovo instead of that HP because hey you wont regret it infact they say when you go mac you never go back. I say when you go lenovo you never go back, because that sorta innovation will not be found in any other OEM to date.  Lenovo originally designed the yoga later copied by HP, Dell, Acer. Lenovo made the helix, the theroy was later copied by HP, Dell, Acer.

Why be a lenovo insider ? what advantages have you faced so far ?

Being a lenovo insider I get to participate in tech related activities and enjoy myself. During these activities I get to influence people in my sector and bring them towards lenovo. Being a silent insider I focus on bringing the maximum amount of sales for lenovo here. I get to try new machines before anyone in my area tries it, and when I do try it and for example my neighbor is looking into buying a new machine Ill know the in’s and outs of what I have played with (for example the yoga 3 pro) I can look into what he/she plans on buying and I can fit lenovo into that and influence them to buy it. I am very open to trying out other machines, like a few days ago I got to check out the HP Split 13, comparing it to the ThinkPad Helix, I have to say the Split is utter shit. The split is exactly like the Helix only major difference, I can break it in no time, the ThinkPad Helix on the other hand has more security features, its aimed to enterprise users and keeping that in mind, it is very durable and you can trust all your important data with it and you will not fear any failures. Being a lenovo insider, Ive also been able to make new connections in the IT line of work, so if I ever need help I know where exactly to send an email or send a message asking for possible guidance. The insiders community is not all serious, we have had our fun times as well.  Ive also got to interact with the lenovo team, lenovo social team, and I have to say they are funny, yet very serious when it comes to the lenovo community. A perfect balance of both which makes the lenovo advocacy program a perfect place to be. Lenovo has taken me to a very high ground where I get to experience everything to the fullest extent, its like the voyager 1 being in interstellar space experiencing new things. I am the voyager experiencing new things

38321750001_2011021965001_1043166846-175-1354646875805

Just through online forums, and groups ive learned alot through lenovo, but what would happen when I personally meet them or if lenovo arranges and insiders meetup, the world of knowladge will be standing right infront of me and I am willing to grab it. Yes ive done stupid things in my IT world, but lenovo and the insiders have been standing right behind me every step of the way to correct me.

Thank you Lenovo, Lenovo team and the insiders community for all your help and support it is the reason to why I am where I am today, I wish I could personally meet you all someday and I will. Thank you I am a proud lenovo insider and I will remain a proud lenovo insider and lenovo supporter till my last breath

Yoga 3 Pro : Slim and Sexy at its finest

Lenovo has been coming in strong with its yoga series, focusing on slimming down every yoga product over the years. This year Lenovo decided to make the Yoga 3 Pro even slimmer than the Mac book air, and the Mac book air is thin, but the Yoga 3 pro makes it look fat. My first ever ultrabook was the Flex 14, and my first impression of the Flex 14 was damn this is thin. But the yoga 3 pro broke the record.

Whats in the Box ?

The yoga 3 Pro is one of its kind, going from the packaging to the laptop itself. Lenovo has beautifully Packaged the yoga 3 pro, by giving it a mechanism where the laptop literally presents itself to you, lifting up the flaps of the yoga 3 pro package lifts up the laptop, giving you that premium inner feeling leaving you in thought thinking “hey they really worked on very tiny details and this is wow” well that is what I thought

11006204_926019644098516_1501585801_n

Its amazing the way lenovo has worked on the packaging and it left me with a long lasting impression, that big things definitely come in small packages

10997128_926019610765186_1763485098_nI mean look at it, the laptop is presenting itself and telling me “pick me up, feel me, power me up, love me”

11004066_927663180600829_1964336950_n

Whats in the box ?

The yoga 3 pro comes with the bare minimal in the box, with just the warranty and product info plus, World wide support phone numbers, a 20V USB custom made travel adapter, a Power cord. The yoga 3 pro also comes with 3 months of google play music, which is a bundled offer given by lenovo with the Yoga 3 pro

11023125_926019557431858_1455079497_n

System Spec’s ?

Our unit came with the latest and greatest

  • Intel core M 5Y70 @1.1Ghz but it turbo’s upto 2.6Ghz
  • Intel HD 5300
  • 256GB Liteon SSD (there is a 512gb SSD version available as well)
  • 13.3″  QHD+  IPS touch screen with a massive screen resolution of 3200×1800
  • Broadcom AC WIFI with bluetooth 4.0
  • Windows 8.1 Core edition (lenovo imaged can be upgraded to 8.1 pro)

First Impression

The Yoga 3 pro already leaves a very beautiful impression when you open up the box, I fell in love with the yoga 3 pro the minute I opened it up and saw the bright orange shine. When I picked it up initially I wasnt sure on if this is a toy or a real machine, because it is indeed very thin and light. Weight at 1.19kg light and 1.28cm thick, the yoga 3 pro is one of the thinnest and lightest machines available in the market to date, and is also the perfect travel companion.

The Orange color I received was just stunning, the way it shined out of its box was amazing. The yoga showed what it truly is right out of the box. The hinge is beautifully crafted.

Ports and Buttons

The Yoga 3 Pro features two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, an SD card reader, Micro HDMI, Rotation lock, Novo Button (helps in resetting the laptop to default factory settings) and a Power  button

11020374_926019370765210_1652496281_nThere’s room for all of this because the laptop’s yellow USB 2.0 port (which is located on the left edge, near the back) also doubles as its power connector. Plus, the company has notched the connector, so you can’t accidentally plug it into the wrong port.

11020374_926019370765210_1652496281_n

The Hinge

Lenovo has worked very hard and has mastered the hinge on the yoga 3 Pro. Giving us the capability of going completely flat on the ground, and thanks to the watchband inspiration this hinge is truly a work of art. When I opened up the system for the first time, I instantly fell inlove with it (even though I hadnt booted it up yet) the Yoga 3 Pro’s hinge has been meticulously hand-crafted from 813 individual pieces … With an all-metal construction and it is so far the only machine to feature such a beautiful hinge

11015977_927142720652875_1899221377_n

Lenovo kept the same 13.3-inch, 3,200 x 1,800 IPS panel. The viewing angles are very good, whether you watch from off to the side or dip the screen far forward, as you would in a cramped coach seat. To that end, Lenovo also coated the screen in a low-glare finish that ensures light reflections rarely ever get in the way, and the screen is protected with corning gorilla class . Finally, a 72 percent color gamut allows for some punchy, but not overly saturated colors. Windows does have scaling issues with such a screen resolution as windows scales at 250% by default. Icons do look tiny, but this device is future proof, apps and programs will take advantage of such a high resolution in no time

Lenovo moved to a different brand when it came to audio. For such a thin device, it surprisingly outputs loud yet clear audio. Paired up with Maxx audio and JBL the Yoga 3 pro give’s us a good soundexperience

11015816_927148100652337_1936798319_n

Performance and Battery Life

Performance wise, im not much of a fan of the Core M broadwell platform, even though it is the main reason to why lenovo was able to slim down the yoga 3 pro, but with the core M I am not able to do any system stress related work, though thanks to the core M lenovo was able to achieve around 7 hours of battery for me it would give around 7hours with wifi and browsing and 13 hours with only music playback on the lowest backlight screen  settings and keyboard backlight turned off

Summary

The yoga 3 Pro is a gorgeous device and is definitely worth every penny, its the perfect travel companion and is very good for office or school work. Students would face alot of advantages with such a device due to its weight, they could put it in anywhere in their school back going from the smallest sections to the most jam packed bags. Over all the Yoga 3 pro gives the user an excellent user experience even though it is powered by a core M but it outdoes it self

Pros

  • Good build quality
  • Thin and light
  • Gorgeous QHD+ screen
  • Four modes provide good versatility in the field
  • Run’s the latest and the greatest broadwell Y series to date

Cons

  • Very expensive
  • Battery life could have been a little longer
  • Crammed up keyboard (takes a little time getting used to)

Would I recommend the Yoga 3 pro ?

Yes I would recommend the yoga 3 pro to anyone who has a budget of over 1000USD and is looking for something thin and light as this would blow them away. The yoga 3 pro is a perfect travel companion and I would rate it a 4/5

Where can I buy the yoga 3 pro from ?

You can either buy the yoga 3 pro from lenovo itself http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/yoga-laptop-series/yoga-3-pro-laptop/
